TOLEDO, Ohio - An early deficit was too much for the Niagara women's soccer team (0-3-0) to climb out of, dropping a contest to the host Toledo Rockets (2-2-1) by a 5-2 margin on Friday evening.
"We were not ready to play in the first half," head coach
Peter Veltri said. "They beat us in every aspect of the game for the first 45 minutes. The second half was a different story, we finally showed that we can play and compete. Hopefully, we can build on our second half performance."
Kristen Lynn helped Toledo to a quick 3-0 lead, netting all three goals in a span of 18 minutes. Niagara found itself in a 4-0 hole in the 34th minute, when Rachel MacLeod snuck a ball past Purple Eagle goalkeeper
Gabrielle Wilson.
Niagara found itself in a 5-0 hole before scoring its first of the game, off the foot of
Catherine Meyer.
Jamie Raepple netted her second goal of the season in the 79th minute to come within three but would come no closer.

Adriana Gallo had two assists for Niagara.
Niagara is back in action on Sunday, when it visits Bowling Green.
