Women's Soccer Hosts Big Four Tournament

NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. - After a thrilling double overtime victory, the Niagara women's soccer team (2-4-0) is ready to continue its four-game homestand, as the Purple Eagles gear up to host the 2011 Big Four Tournament.

Friday night will see St. Bonaventure (4-2-1) take on Canisius (3-2-1) at 5 p.m., with the Purple Eagles taking on Buffalo (5-1-0) at 7:30 p.m. Canisius will open Sunday's play at 11 a.m. against Buffalo, while Niagara will close out the Big Four Tournament at 1:30 p.m. against St. Bonaventure.

Winners of two of their last three games, the Purple Eagles are 15-6-1 against Buffalo, Canisius and St. Bonaventure since the 2003 season. Niagara is led by sophomore Bre Catipovic, who has two goals, an assist and five points to her credit so far. Senior goalkeeper Gabrielle Wilson has been playing well for Niagara, as she currently has a 2-1-0 record, along with a 1.62 goals-against average.

Following the Big Four Tournament, Niagara takes on Cornell on Sunday, Sept. 25, before starting Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play.
