Women's Basketball Get Ready for Bucknell

Holiday Showdown
After playing three games in three days in the Wintrhop Classic in Rock Hill, S.C., Niagara returns home to face Bucknell the day after Thanksgiving..

The Purple Eagles are looking to to take advatage of Bucknell’s three game losing streak to get their first win of the season.  Niagara is led by junior Lauren Gatto who took over the Winthrop Classic last weekend.

Bucknell Bisons (1-2)   
Bucknell started the season at home and defeated St. Peter’s 46-35.  Over their last three games against Rider, Youngstown State, and Buffalo the Bisons have gone 0-3 to bring their overall record to 1-3 on the year.    
Against the Bisons (Bucknell leads 5-3)
The Purple Eagles started out slow aginst the Bison in their last meeting (Nov. 29, 2010) but finished strong.  Niagara outscored Bucknell 37-34 in the second half, including a 16-4 run to cut the deficit to four with 30 seconds remaining but it wasn’t enough as Bucknell won 69-62.

First Win in 2009...
The 66-51 victory over Bucknell on Dec. 2, 2009 was the first win of the season for the Purple Eagles who had gone 0-6 up to that point.  Niagara would finish the season 13-18, with a 9-9 conference record which was good enough for 5th in the MAAC that season.

Against the Patriot League
Niagara has played seven of the eight schools from The Patriot League. The Purple Eagles are 30-20 versus Army, Bucknell, Colgate,  Holy Cross Lafayette, Lehigh, and Navy.  The only team Niagara has not played from The Patriot League is American University.
