LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - The Niagara volleyball team fell in four sets at the Siena Saints, 3-1 (25-22, 15-25, 25-19, 25-23), on Sunday afternoon to cap its MAAC opening weekend with a 1-1 record.

"I am very disappointed with our effort today. We did not show up ready to play," head coach Susan Clements.

Freshman Ellen Senf had a career day with 14 kills to lead Niagara (6-8, 1-1 MAAC) and was one of four members to have double-digit kills. Sophomores Kari Honomichl and Amanda Wilken each had 11 kills and junior Kathy Bibler added 10 kills.

The difference in the match was timely attacking by Siena (2-8, 1-1 MAAC).  The Saints had strong finishes in the first and fourth set, which clinched the match. NU was edged in attacking percentage (.219 to .288) in the match and had its best attacking percentage in the third set (.364) which it won 25-19.

Junior Michelle James had 39 assists and nine digs, falling short of a double-double for the second-straight match. Junior Sam Morgan collected 13 digs to extend her double-digit digs streak to 76 matches. Senior Rebecca Suchy contributed with 10 digs.

The Purple Eagles are back on the court on Saturday when they host the Rider Broncs at 1 p.m.
