Bruso Cards Career-Low In Golf Finale

Brittany Siechen

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Freshmen Brittany Siechen and Megan Bruso shined on the links for the Niagara women's golf team on Sunday in the final round of the BGSU Falcon Invitational.

Siechen recorded her second-straight round in the 80's, finishing tied for 19th place with a 165 (81-84). Bruso lowered her previous career-best score by 11 strokes with a final round 107.

"This was the biggest and best event the team has played in. There was a strong 11-team field, and the team was able to experience big time college golf," Niagara head coach Steve Latimer. "We were treated to an excellent facility, with great hospitality. Although we did not reach our team scoring goal of under 400, the team performance was overall much better. The team is starting to show signs of real improvement".

Junior Ona Peck dropped two strokes from her round-one total and finished with a 194 (98-96). Jenna Hendrikx and Katie Hamilton carded a 125 and 126, respectively.

"I am looking forward to continued work in the next couple weeks leading into the MAAC Championships," Latimer added. "I believe we can really become a force in our conference".

The Purple Eagles are off this weekend and return to the links on April 29th in Celebration, Fla. for their first ever MAAC Championship.
