NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Niagara volleyball team won its tenth straight match with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-11, 25-18) victory against the Saint Peter’s Peahens on Saturday.

Niagara (16-8, 11-1 MAAC) extended its program-best win streak to 10 matches and has won nine of its 10 matches in straight sets, including Saturday’s win versus Saint Peter’s (6-16, 2-10 MAAC).

NU was pushed early by the Peahens, but rebounded with solid performances in the second and third set. The Purple Eagles had 45 kills on 43 assists in the match.

"We did not have a well executed match," head coach Susan Clements said. "However, at this point in the season we will take wins any way we can."

The opening set provided a scare for the Purple Eagles as the Peahens matched them point for point. With the scored tied at 20-20, NU had kills from Amanda Wilken and Hannah Hedrick for a two-point advantage. Niagara would win the set from consecutive Peahen errors.

In the second set, the Purple Eagles offense shifted into high gear. Niagara had a match-high .429 (14 kills, two errors) hitting percentage as it cruised to a 25-11 win. The Purple Eagles went on an 8-1 run to finish the third set and match.

Hedrick finished the match with 10 kills and 11 digs for her eighth double-double of the season to lead the team. Wilken led the match with 11 kills, while Ellen Senf and Kathy Bibler each had nine kills. Michelle James had 41 assists, her second most in a three set match this season; the most was a 45 assists performance against SPC on Oct. 3. Sam Morgan had a team-high 16 digs to extend her double-digit digs streak to 86 matches.

Niagara will host the Manhattan Jaspers on Sunday at 2 p.m.
