RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Niagara volleyball team swept the Manhattan Jaspers (25-12, 25-18, 25-18) for its third-straight win on Saturday afternoon.

“Our passing was really sharp today which sparked our offense,” head coach Susan Clements said. “Michelle did a good job distributing the ball to our hitters and they did a good job hitting around their defenders.”

Niagara (9-8, 4-1 MAAC) controlled the match from the start en route to its third-straight win over Manhattan (7-9, 2-3 MAAC). The Purple Eagles finished the match with a season-best .380 hitting percentage, including a superb .586 (18 kills, one error) hitting percentage in the first set which led to a 25-12 win.

Four Purple Eagles had hitting percentages of at least .333 or higher. Junior Hannah Hedrick led the match with 13 kills on a season-high .440 hitting percentage and added eight digs. Sophomores Amanda Wilken and Kari Honomichl had nine and eight kills, respectively, and Kathy Bibler contributed with seven kills.

Junior Michelle James orchestrated the offense by distributing 39 assists. Junior Sam Morgan had 12 digs to extend her NCAA-best double-digit digs streak to 79 matches. NU also had three blocks and held the Jaspers to a .097 hitting percentage.
