JERSEY CITY, N.J. - The Niagara volleyball team (9-6, 2-2 MAAC) was defeated in straight-sets at Saint Peter's (5-10, 2-2 MAAC) on Sunday, 25-19, 25-16, 25-23. The Purple Eagles were outhit in the error-plagued game, .090 to -.008.
"We did not come ready to play and allowed Saint Peter's to control the match," Niagara head coach Susan Clements said.
Sophomore Hannah Hedrick (Cincinnati, Ohio) provided the offense for Niagara, contributing 11 of the team's 25 kills. Classmate Sam Morgan (Cincinnati, Ohio) was the defensive standout with a match-high 28 digs.
Niagara had just five kills with 11 errors in the second set, while the Peahens collected 10 kills to just five errors. NU tried to rebound in the third set, but the home squad was able to pull out the close victory, 25-23.
The Purple Eagles return home for a pair of MAAC matches against Siena and Marist on Oct. 3-4.
