ERIE, PA. - The Niagara University men's swimming and diving team (2-1) defeated the Gannon Knights (0-2) on Saturday afternoon by a final tally of 169-125.
Niagara was paced by junior Kevin Jennings (Gasport, N.Y.), who won top honors in the 50 yard freestyle event (22.11), 100 yard freestyle event (49.20) and was also a member of the first place 400 yard freestyle relay team (3:19.04). Freshman Brian Sawma (Niagara Falls, N.Y.) was a double-winner for the Purple Eagles, winning the 200 yard butterfly event (2:02.23) and the 100 yard butterfly event (52.47).
Sophomore diver Chris Zukas (Elmira, N.Y.) swept the diving events, winning the one-meter dive with a score of 243.90 and the three-meter dive with a score of 214.43.
The Purple Eagles are back in action on Oct. 14, when they travel to take on Cleveland State, Valparaiso and Little Three foe, St. Bonaventure.
