NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. - The Niagara volleyball team (15-6, 8-2 MAAC) avenged its only road conference loss of the season in dominating fashion with a sweep of Saint Peter's (6-14, 3-6 MAAC) on Saturday. The Purple Eagles played solid defense and improved on their hitting numbers from last month's road loss.

The last time these two teams met, the Purple eagles recorded a negative hitting percentage (-.008) and were swept in Jersey City, N.J. Niagara came out determined on Saturday, and attacked at a .343 clip, extending its season-high win streak that started after the road defeat to SPC to six matches.

"The main difference was that our focus was there today," Niagara head coach Susan Clements said. "We are the same team, but the last time we took them lightly. I think our team learned the lesson that anyone can win in this league, and now we are very determined to accomplish our goal of reaching the MAAC Tournament."

Sophomore Hannah Hedrick (Cincinnati, Ohio) continued to propel the Purple Eagles with her offensive prowess. She recorded her 17th double-double of the season with 12 kills and 14 digs. The outside hitter also committed just two errors and attacked at a .333 percentage.

Freshman Kari Honomichl (Petersburg, Mich.) tallied a match-high 16 kills and a .406 hitting percentage for NU. Kathy Bibler (Bowling Green, Ohio) added nine kills and a .412 hitting number in the win.

Sophomore Michelle James (Cincinnati, Ohio) inched up the Niagara record book with her Saturday performance. The setter moved into fifth place on the school's all-time assist list with her 1,915th helper of her young career. She handed out 38 assists and collected 11 digs in the three-set win

On the defensive side of the ball, sophomore Sam Morgan (Cincinnati, Ohio) posted a match-high 17 digs, extending her double-digit dig streak to 51 matches. Junior Shannon Ryan (Fairport, N.Y.) was one of four Purple Eagles to record double-digit digs with 10 of her own.
