LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - The Niagara women's soccer team (7-7-1, 3-3-0 MAAC) gave up two goals in the second half, dropping a MAAC contest to the host Siena Saints (11-3-0, 5-2-0) 2-0 on Friday afternoon.

With the game scoreless 25 minutes into the second half, the Saints would strike twice in a span of 1:51to put the game away. Ashleigh Barone would strike in the 72nd minute and the 74th minute, beating junior netminder Ashleigh Bowers (Liverpool, N.Y.) for both goals.

"We played very well for the first 60 minutes of the game," head coach Peter Veltri said. "We just couldn't sustain our level of play for the last 30 minutes. We need to do a better job of focusing, in order to play a complete game."

The Purple Eagles looked strong in the first half, outshooting the Saints by a 9-7 margin, despite being unable to bury any scoring chances. Sophomore Laura Kimoto (Scarborough, Ont.) and senior Michelle Emery (Colorado Springs, Colo.) both had good chances in the first half, but were unable to convert.

Bowers made three saves in the loss to the Saints.

Niagara is back in action on Sunday, when they take on Marist at 1 p.m.
