DAYTON, OHIO - The Niagara volleyball team (0-9) is still in search of its first win of the season after a pair of losses at the Wright State Tournament on Saturday. The Purple Eagles suffered a four-set defeat to the host team in the early session, 25-19, 25-13, 20-25, 25-21, and then fell in straight sets to Morehead State, 25-18, 25-17, 25-21.
Freshman setter Michelle James (Cincinnati, Ohio) recorded her first two career double-doubles on the afternoon. She opened the day with a 41-assist, 14 dig effort before collecting 31 assists and 12 digs in the final game of the day.
"We started the day a little flat, but we were able to fight back," Niagara head coach Susan Clements said. "Once we stop making so many mistakes, one right after another, we will come out on top."

Freshman Hannah Hedrick (Cincinnati, Ohio) led three student-athletes in double-digit kills with 15. Middle hitters Lauren Costello (Webster, N.Y.) and Kathy Bibler (Bowling Green, Ohio) each picked up 10 kills in the loss. Hedrick added 13 digs for her fourth career double-double.
Freshman Sam Morgan (Cincinnati, Ohio) and sophomore Rebecca Suchy (Lancaster, N.Y.) combined for 25 digs. Morgan had a team-high 15 while Suchy added 10.
Morehead State 3, Niagara 0
Costello added 11 kills in the second match of the day while attacking at a season-high .318 (11-4-22). She added three digs and a block assist in the loss.
Hedrick chimed in with eight kills and six digs, while Morgan had a team-high 17 digs.
The Purple Eagles return home to face the University at Buffalo on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. The game will be televised locally by Time Warner Sports Net and will air on tape delay on Wednesday at 8 p.m. and Thursday at 8:30 p.m.
