Volleyball Hangs Tough In Loss to Florida State

DAYTON, OHIO - The Niagara volleyball team (0-7) held its own with one of the best team's in the ACC, but eventually lost to Florida State (6-2), 25-21, 25-22, 25-23, at the Wright State Tournament on Friday.

Freshman middle Kathy Bibler (Bowling Green, Ohio) led the way with 10 kills while hitting .714. She had a team-high three blocks and did not commit an attacking error in the match.

"We were competitive the entire match because our passing and defense was on," Niagara head coach Susan Clements said. "Kathy was a big force for us (Friday) hitting .714 with no errors. It was a moral victory for our program. To be able to compete with a top ACC team is a step in the right direction."

Sam Morgan (Cincinnati, Ohio) was a force on the backline with 14 digs, zero reception errors and a pair of assists. "Sam passing and digging was a key for us in this match."

Hannah Hedrick (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Holly Allgeier (Louisville, Ky.) each recorded seven kills on the evening, as Hedrick collected a team-best 15 digs. Michelle James (Cincinnati, Ohio) handed out 27 assists in the loss with eight digs and four kills.

The Wright State Tournament continues Saturday with the Purple Eagles taking on the host Raiders at 12 p.m. and Morehead State at 5 p.m. Follow all the action via live stats by clicking here.
