Fisher Leads PIT in Scoring; Lands On All-Tourney Team

Charron Fisher

PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Niagara senior Charron Fisher (Pennsauken, N.J.) was named to the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament All-Tournament Team after leading all 64 players in scoring. The 6-foot-4 forward averaged 22.3 points per game during the three-game tournament.

"To be the leading scorer in a prestigious tournament like this is an incredible accomplishment," Niagara head coach Joe Mihalich said. "We are so proud of how Charron represented himself and Niagara University."

Fisher, who played for the Cherry, Bekeart & Holland team at the P.I.T., scored a tournament-high 28 points in his second game on 12-for-20 (.600) shooting from the floor. He finished the weekend event by tallying 27 points in a win over Holiday Inn - Portsmouth. Both scoring totals led the tournament.

Fisher also finished the event with 5.3 rebounds per game while shooting 46.2 percent from the field. He averaged 29.0 minutes per game as his squad posted a 1-2 record. He was one of only two players to average 20 or more points, as Tennessee's Chris Lofton added 20.0 ppg.

The P.I.T. is the nation's oldest amateur basketball tournament. It is recognized by NBA and European scouts as the premier showcase for future professional players. It is the only tournament for college seniors to participate in and be evaluated by the National Basketball Association prior to the NBA's pre-draft camp in Orlando.
