Volleyball Drops Home Match to Iona

NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. - The Niagara volleyball team (3-15, 1-6 MAAC) fell in straight sets to Iona (12-6, 5-2 MAAC) on Saturday, 25-13, 25-21, 25-20. The Purple Eagles were out hit .256 to .038 against one of the better teams in the MAAC.

"Iona is a very good team in the conference," head coach Suasn Clements said. "(Saturday), we just didn't play a complete team game."

Outside hitters Hannah Hedrick (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Holly Allgeier (Louisville, Ky.) each collected eight kills on the afternoon. Lauren Costello (Webster, N.Y.), Shannon Ryan (Fairport, N.Y.) and Kathy Bibler (Bowling Green, Ohio) added six kills.

Freshman setter Michelle James (Cincinnati, Ohio) had 31 assists in three sets to go along with nine digs. Sam Morgan (Cincinnati,. Ohio) had a team-high 10 digs in the loss.

The Purple Eagles host Manhattan on Sunday inside the 'Taps' Gallagher Center. Action gets under way at 1 p.m.
