JERSEY CITY., NJ. - The Purple Eagles women’s basketball team dropped to 3-11 (1-2 MAAC) after an 81-69 loss the Saint Peter’s Peahens.

The Purple Eagles had four scorers in double-digits, but it wasn’t enough to halt the Peahens home winning streak.

"We had some great performances offensively tonight," head coach Kendra Faustin stated. "We struggled with turnovers and their athleticism on the defensive end."

The first half started quickly for the Purple Eagles as they bolted out to a 4-0 lead. Saint Peter’s tied the game and then took the lead, before a Liz Flooks (White Plains, NY) trey tied it at 15. The teams continued to go back and forth, until Lauma Reke’s trey put the Peahens up 30-21. The Purple Eagles went into the half down 36-26, as Saint Peter’s hit a buzzer beater to increase their lead to double digits. In her first start, Flooks had eight points at the half, which led all Purple Eagle scorers. Michelle Manfredi (Jefferson Hills, Pa.) had six points at the half and Sarah Wilson (St. Catherines, Ont.) had five points halfway through the game.

The Purple Eagles just couldn’t catch up to the Peahens in the second half. The Peahens held a double digit lead for most of the second half, topped off when they went up 55-38 with 13 minutes left in the game. Wilson finished with 15 points, while Erika Harris (Gahanna, Ohio) finished with 12. Flooks and senior Sara Prybyl (Mars, Pa.) also finished with 10 points.

Tania Kennedy led all scorers with 27 points and Johnell Burts had 23 points for the Peahens.

The Purple Eagles will kick off the home portion of the MAAC schedule starting this weekend as they will host Iona on Thursday at 7 pm and Fairfield at 2 pm on Saturday.
