Volleyball Loses to Bucknell at Cornell Invitational

ITHACA, N.Y. – The volleyball team (2-7) dropped a three-set match to Bucknell (5-4) during the second day of the Cornell Invitational, Saturday, 30-26, 30-26, 30-24. The Purple Eagles hit just .137 in the straight-set loss.

Senior Raelean Rush (Amherst, N.Y.) recorded a team-team-high 11 kills, while attacking at a .346 clip. The middle hitter had four digs and a pair of blocks in the loss.

Senior Maurin Lawrence (Corfu, N.Y.) had nine kills to go along with three blocks in the loss, while classmate Mallory Boron (Lockport, N.Y./Starpoint) had a team-high 23 assists. Freshman Lauren Costello (Webster, N.Y.) posted a match-high five blocks.

The Purple Eagles open MAAC play with a pair of home matches against Loyola and and Rider, Sept. 15-16, inside the Gallagher Center.
