FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The volleyball team (3-10, 1-3 MAAC) fell in straight sets Sunday to Fairfield University (7-9, 4-1 MAAC) inside Alumni Hall in Fairfield, Conn., 26-30, 21-30, 25-30.
Despite the loss, senior Raelean Rush (Amherst, N.Y.) recorded her fourth double-double in as many MAAC games. The outside hitter totaled 12 kills and 15 digs with five blocks while hitting .179.
Senior Maurin Lawrence (Corfu, N.Y.) had eight kills with no errors for a .400 attacking percentage for the Purple Eagles, while classmate Sara Mancini (Lancaster, N.Y.) pitched in with a match-high 18 digs.
Freshman Lauren Costello (Webster, N.Y.) continued her blocking prowess, picking up seven blocks to give her a conference-high 61 on the year. Senior Mallory Boron (Lockport, N.Y.) dished out 28 assists, and junior Nicole Piette (Lockport, N.Y.) and Costello each had six kills.
The Purple Eagles host a pair of MAAC games inside the legendary 'Taps' Gallagher Center, Sept. 29-30, as they take on Saint Peter's and Manhattan, respectively.
