BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — The Niagara University men’s basketball team (20-11) has an opportunity to avenge one of its five Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference losses tonight at 8 p.m. when it plays Loyola College (18-12) in the semifinals of the 2007 Bank of America Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament at the Arena at Harbor Yard.
Niagara, the No. 2 seed, advanced to the semifinals for the eighth time since joining the league with a 77-52 victory over Rider University Saturday evening.
No. 3 seed Loyola reached the semifinals with a 76-72 win over No. 6 seed Fairfield University on Saturday night.
The Purple Eagles enter the game having won nine-straight games and 11 of their last 12 games. They own the country’s ninth-longest winning streak.
Tonight’s game will be televised live on MSG and Time Warner Cable, and can also be heard live on WJJL (1440 AM) and on Niagara University’s official athletic website at www.PurpleEagles.com.
Tonight’s game is the 40th meeting between the two teams, and Niagara leads the all-time series, 25-14.
