NIAGARA UN., N.Y. -- After playing 14 consecutive Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference games, the Niagara University men’s basketball team (16-11) takes a break and plays its last non-league contest of the season when it hosts Liberty University (12-15, 6-6) Saturday at 4 p.m. in the legendary Taps Gallagher Center.

The Liberty game is a non-conference game from the pool of teams under consideration for the BracketBuster of games. The game is one of 51 pool games Saturday, promoting teams in "mid-major" conferences and pitting NCAA Tournament hopefuls against each other.

The game will be broadcast live on Niagara University’s official sports website, www.PurpleEagles.com, and WJJL (1440 AM).

The Purple Eagles won their fifth consecutive game with an 89-88 overtime victory over Canisius Tuesday.

The Flames lost to Longwood University, 76-70, Thursday.

Saturday’s game is the first meeting between the two teams.
