NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. - The Niagara volleyball team (5-16, 3-9 MAAC) fell in straight-sets to Iona (11-14, 8-4 MAAC) at home on Sunday, 30-25, 30-22, 30-27. Mallory Boron (Lockport, N.Y.) had 29 assists in the loss.
"Mallory played a great match offensively for us," Niagara head coach Susan Clements said. "She was setting well (Sunday). Unfortunately, we just didn't have any offensive power today."
The Gaels out-attacked the Purple Eagles in the match 47 kills to 38 and .179 percent to .076. Iona also had five more total blocks than Niagara in the win.
Senior Maurin Lawrence (Corfu, N.Y.) had a team-high 12 kills in the loss, while classmate Raelean Rush (Amherst, N.Y.) recorded her 12th double-double of the season with 11 kills and 14 digs.
The Purple Eagles hit the road next weekend for a pair of MAAC contests at Rider and Loyola.
