MANHATTAN – Junior Maurin Lawrence (Corfu, N.Y.) hit .391 and collected 10 kills, but it wasn’t enough as the Niagara University volleyball team (1-3) dropped a 30-16, 30-14, 30-27 match to Bucknell (4-5) Friday evening in the St. Francis (N.Y.) Tournament.
"Our passing game could have been better, but our middle was working well," Niagara University head coach Rocco Lucci said.
Sophomore Nicole Piette (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) had six kills and junior Raelean Rush (Amherst, N.Y./Sweet Home) led the Purple Eagles with 10 digs.
Niagara returns to action Saturday when it plays St. Francis (N.Y.) at 10:30 a.m. and Morgan State at noon.
