LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Junior Raelean Rush (Amherst, N.Y./Sweet Home) led three players in double figures in kills, but it wasn’t enough as the Niagara University volleyball team (4-22) lost in five games, 30-26, 25-30, 30-28, 30-32, 8-15, to Saint Peter’s College (14-22) Thursday afternoon in the 2006 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship.
Rush had a career- and team-high 27 kills and a match-high 19 digs. Freshman Holly Sahner (Dix Hills, N.Y.) added 17 kills and sophomore Lindsay Kriger (Yorkton, Sask.) added a career-high 11 kills and 11 digs. Junior Mallory Boron (Lockport, N.Y./Starpoint) had 60 assists and 11 digs. Classmate Sara Mancini (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster) had a match-high 18 digs.
In the double-elimination tournament, Niagara takes on the loser of the No. 1 Fairfield vs. No. 9 Siena game Friday at 11 a.m.
