NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – Niagara University junior Brittany Bisnott (Brampton, Ont.) recorded three goals and an assist as the Purple Eagle women’s soccer team (7-3-0) improved to 3-0 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with a 6-2 win over Rider Friday afternoon in Lawrenceville, N.J. The hat trick was the third of Bisnott’s career and first since against Marist, Oct. 10, 2004.
Niagara sophomore Stephanie Gartley (Sarnia, Ont.) gave Niagara a 1-0 lead when she scored on a cross from sophomore Shaylyn Lawrence (Baldwinsville, N.Y.). Bisnott then scored her first goal on a cross from Stephanie Frost (Jr., Elmira, N.Y.) at 19:12. Bisnott then stole a pass and beat Rider goaltender Kim Carter to give the Purple Eagles a 3-0 lead at 28:56. Rider would score to make it 3-1 before the first half ended.
Niagara sophomore Aisha Eversley (Mississauga, Ont.) then scored 59 seconds into the second half when she converted a crossing pass from Gartley. Rider cut the lead to 4-2 before Bisnott gave the Purple Eagles a 5-2 lead when she scored from 15 yards out. Senior Jenna Sporta (Oakville, Ont.) recorded the assist.
Eversley rounded out the scoring when she beat a defender and the goaltender after receiving a crossing pass from Bisnott.
The Purple Eagles return to MAAC action Sunday at noon against Loyola College in Baltimore, Md.
