Volleyball Still Winless in League Play

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Niagara University volleyball team (2-11, 0-6) lost 30-22, 30-24, 30-28 to Saint Peter’s College (2-4, 6-11) Sunday afternoon in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action.

The Purple Eagles, who have lost their last eight matches, were led by freshman Holly Sahner (Dix Hills, N.Y.) who had nine kills and hit .263 for the match. Sophomore Nicole Piette (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) had eight kills and a team-leading four blocks. Junior Raelean Rush (Amherst, N.Y./Sweet Home) had 14 digs and senior Jessica Piscitelli (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) collected 12 digs.

Saint Peter’s was led by Serra Soylu who had 16 kills, and the Peahens hit .301.

Niagara returns to action Wednesday with an exhibition match vs. Niagara College at 7 p.m. in the Gallagher Center.
