NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. -- With a new week comes new possibilities and for the Niagara University women’s basketball team (2-13, 1-5), the possibility of beating long-time rival Canisius College (8-7, 5-1) is always higher because of the rivalry. The teams meet Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. in the Koessler Center in Buffalo.

The Purple Eagles have played better in their last three games, but still haven’t been able to snap the program’s longest road losing streak. They lost their 11th consecutive road contest on Jan. 14, falling to Marist, 70-56.

Canisius enters the bragging right’s game as winners in their last two outings. It defeated Iona (76-59) and Manhattan (51-47) on the road last week.

Niagara makes its national television debut Tuesday when ESPNU broadcasts the game live.
