BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Fairfield University (3-3, 1-0) had three players score in double figures to help it defeat Niagara University (1-6, 0-1), 74-47, Friday night in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference women’s basketball game at Arena at Harbor Yard.
The Stags’ Sabra Wrice had a game-high 18 points while Candice Lindsey added 15 points and Cara Murphy 12. Niagara was led by junior Shaunna Ambrose (McKees Rock, Pa.) with 12 points and a game-high nine rebounds.
Trailing by six at the half, 28-22, Niagara allowed Fairfield to go on a 15-4 run to take a 19-point lead, 45-26. The Purple Eagles missed four shots and had eight of their 22 turnovers for the game during the run. 
In the first half, Niagara took a four-point lead, 12-8, on a freshman Erika Harris’ (Gahanna, Ohio) layup at 13:11, but Fairfield outscored the Purple Eagles16-10 the rest of the half.
Niagara continues its six-game road swing with a 2 p.m. game at Manhattan Sunday.
