Sophomore Charron Fisher leads Niagara in scoring and rebounding.

NIAGARA UN., N.Y. -- For the second consecutive season, the Niagara University men’s basketball team (2-6) will participate in an in-season tournament when it meets Appalachian State (4-6) Friday evening at 8:30 p.m. in the Duquesne Holiday Tournament in Pittsburgh, Pa.

The game can be heard live on WJJL (1440 AM) and on Niagara University’s official sports website, www.PurpleEagles.com.

Niagara hopes its holiday break will help end a mind-boggling six-game losing streak. In their last outing, the Purple Eagles dropped an 80-59 decision at Notre Dame on Dec. 21.

Appalachian State enters the game as a winner in one of the last five outings. The Mountaineers concluded a four-game road swing with a 78-63 loss at Arkansas-Little Rock on Dec. 20.

Niagara leads the all-time series, 2-0.
