NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. -- It will be a battle for first place in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference when the red hot Niagara University women’s basketball team (11-4, 6-0) hosts long-time Little Three rival Canisius College (9-6, 5-1) Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the legendary Taps Gallagher Center.
The Purple Eagles are currently in first place in the MAAC and the only undefeated team. The Golden Griffins have faltered only once (Loyola) and are in second place in the league.
Niagara won its seventh consecutive home game and sixth contest overall when it defeated Iona, 78-65, Jan. 16.
Canisius is also riding a winning streak. The Golden Griffins have won their last five outings, including a pair last week.
