Men's Basketball Travels to Manhattan

Senior Alvin Cruz needs 14 points to join Niagara's 1,000-point club.

NIAGARA UN., N.Y. -- It will be a rematch of the 2004 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship game when Niagara University (9-4, 4-1) begins a two-game road swing with a 7 p.m. game at Manhattan (6-5, 1-2) Thursday in Draddy Gym.

The Purple Eagles enter the game with a modest three-game winning streak and are still in the hunt for the top spot in the league standings. They are currently in second place in the MAAC behind Rider (4-0).

Niagara won its seventh home game of the season and fourth MAAC game of the year with a 73-71 victory over Iona in the Gallagher Center last Saturday.

Senior David Brooks tallied a game-high 15 points in the contest and led five Purple Eagles in double-figure scoring.

Manhattan had its two-game winning streak snapped with a 71-62 loss at Marist Jan. 9. It is in fifth place in the MAAC after the loss.

The game can be heard live on WJJL (1440 AM) or on the Niagara athletics website at www.PurpleEagles.com.
