Volleyball Downed by Bucknell

Erin Graham

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – Juniors Erin Graham and Michelle LeSouder had 17 and 15 kills, respectively, but it wasn’t enough for the Niagara University volleyball team (1-7) to win its second match of the season. The Purple Eagles dropped a 22-30, 30-21, 30-21, 30-25 match to Bucknell (5-3) at the Bucknell Tournament in Lewisburgh, Pa.

Graham hit .214 and LeSouder .200, but Niagara only hit .162 for the match. In the first game, Niagara hit .448 with 15 kills and two errors on 29 attempts, but it hit -.057 in game two, .154 in game three and .156 in the fourth game.

"After such an awesome first game, the upper classmen lost their focus," Niagara head coach Rocco Lucci said. "Winning teams keep their focus and help support each other. We didn’t do that."

Freshman Raelean Rush (Amherst, N.Y./Sweet Home) had seven kills and 10 digs, while junior Micole Daluisio (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster) had a match-high 17 digs.

Niagara returns to action Saturday when it plays Duquesne at 10 a.m.
