NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. -- The Niagara University women’s basketball team (15-7, 9-4) won’t be resting on its laurels when it faces Iona College (6-15, 5-7) Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Mulcahy Center.
The Purple Eagles, who claimed first place in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with a 73-70 win over Canisius Wednesday, came within two points of losing to the Gaels in the Gallagher Center on Jan. 24.
Niagara brings a four-game winning streak and a modest two-game road streak into the game after winning at Canisius.
Iona enters the game on a three-game winning streak that includes victories at Siena, vs. Fairfield and at Rider.
Saturday’s game is the 29th meeting between the two teams. Niagara holds a 16-game edge, 22-6, in the all-time series.
