NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – It took five games, but the Niagara University volleyball team (6-16, 4-3) kept its postseason hopes alive with a 25-30, 26-30, 30-24, 30-22, 15-13 victory over Rider University Friday in Lawrenceville, N.J.
Junior Erin Graham (Oakville, N.Y.) led the Purple Eagle attack with 22 kills, 25 digs and five solo blocks. Classmate Michelle LeSouder (Stratford, Ont.) hit .368 with a team-high 31 kills. Libero Micole Daluisio (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster) had a match-high 35 digs. Sophomore Jessica Piscitelli (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) had 18 digs and junior Jennifer Hansford (Stratford, Ont.) had 58 assists and 20 digs.
Graham became just the third Purple Eagle in school history to register 1,000 career kills with her performance vs. Rider.
Niagara hit .197 for the match and had 117 digs.
The Purple Eagles return to action Saturday when they play at Loyola at 3:30 p.m.
