The Niagara University Purple Eagles (0-1) open their 31st home season in the legendary Taps Gallagher Center when it hosts the Vermont Catamounts (1-1) Wednesday at 7 p.m.
The Purple Eagles will be playing for their first win of the season after dropping their season opener, 62-57, at Syracuse Nov. 19. Preseason Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Year Eva Cunningham had a game-high 15 points and a team-high five assists and three steals vs. the Orange.
Vermont also enters the contest on a losing note as the Catamounts lost, 67-52, in the championship game of the Banknorth Classic in Burlington. In the first game of the Classic, Vermont beat Louisville, 59-56.
