NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – The Niagara University women’s soccer team’s (9-7-1, 4-4-1) hopes of postseason ended Sunday when it lost 2-1 to Rider University (11-6-2, 5-2-1) at Rider Campus Field.
Jen Marcella scored the game winner for the Broncs in the 76th minute of the game. Lauren Terzyk picked up the assist.
Rider struck first in the contest when Tami Coyle scored in the 13th minute.
Niagara tied the game in the second half when freshman Brittany Bisnott (Brampton, Ont.) scored her 15th goal of the season in the 60th minute. Niagara’s leading scorer attacked a long ball, put it over the defense and lobbed the ball over Rider’s Kim Carter in net.
Junior Katy Owings (Annapolis, Md.) made 10 saves and Carter one. The Bronco out shot the Purple Eagles, 26-8.
