Volleyball Team Loses in Four at Fairfield

Junior Erin Graham led Niagara with a team-high 16 kills Friday night at Fairfield.

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – Junior Erin Graham (Oakville, N.Y.) had a team-high 16 kills but it wasn’t enough as the Niagara University volleyball team (4-14, 2-1) had its two-match winning streak snapped with a 30-26, 18-30, 26-30, 21-30, loss to Fairfield University (15-9, 2-1) Friday in Fairfield, Conn.

Joining Graham with double digits in kills were juniors Michelle LeSouder (Stratford, Ont.) with 12 and Karen Simpson (Rochester, N.Y.) with 11. Junior Micole Daluisio (Lancaster, N.Y.) had a match-high 19 digs and freshman Raelean Rush (Amherst, N.Y.) added 11.

"We played a great first game. They (Fairfield) didn’t know what was happening," Niagara head coach Rocco Lucci said. "In the last three games we got tentative and didn’t swing hard and the team knew we would have to do that to win the match."

Niagara was limited to a .041 hitting percentage in the match while Fairfield hit .208.

The Purple Eagles return to action Sunday when they meet Iona at noon in the Mulcahy Center on the New Rochelle campus.
