NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. -- The Niagara University women’s basketball team (11-6, 5-3) will take its modest two-game winning streak to the city when it plays in Jersey City, N.J., vs. Saint Peter’s College (10-7, 5-3) Friday at 7:30 p.m.
The Purple Eagles are currently tied with Saint Peter’s in second place in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference standings. The Peahens have the edge though as they defeated Niagara, 63-56, in the Gallagher Center on Jan. 9. A win would give the Purple Eagles sole possession of second place and potentially a shot at the top spot.
Niagara, which has won four of its last five games, won its eighth home contest of the season when it knocked off Siena for the second time this season, 53-48, on Monday.
Saint Peter’s enters the game having lost, 77-74, at Marist Jan. 25. The loss snapped the Peahens three-game winning streak.
Friday’s game is the 37th meeting between the two teams with Saint Peter’s holding a 30-6 series lead.
