NIAGARA UN., N.Y. -- The Niagara University men’s basketball team (7-2) begins the New Year with an old rival when it travels to the World’s Most Famous Arena to play St. John’s (3-6) at 7 p.m. Saturday. The game is the nightcap of a quadruple header tabbed Dreyfus Big Saturday by Madison Square Garden.
Niagara brings an undefeated road record into the game. The Purple Eagles won their fourth-straight road contest Wednesday when they beat Central Connecticut State, 79-74, in New Britain, Conn.
St. John’s also enters the game on a winning note. The Red Storm snapped a two-game losing streak with a 64-61 win over Holy Cross Monday in the Dreyfus Holiday Festival at The Garden.
