Niagara Volleyball Team Secures First Victory of the Season


Senior Stacy Koslosky had 10 kills, six service aces and hit .474 in a win over Quinnipiac Friday night.

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – It took five games and over two hours, but the Niagara University volleyball team (1-10) got its first victory of the season with a 3-2 (30-23, 18-30, 27-30, 30-19, 16-14) win over Quinnipiac (2-9) Friday evening in the sixth annual Lehigh Mountain Hawk Classic in Taylor Gym on the Lehigh University campus in Bethlehem, Pa.

"It was a great team win for us," head coach Rocco Lucci said. "They had good intensity for the majority of the match and they really stayed focused even when we where down. Micole (Daluisio) played great defense tonight and Stacy (Koslosky) really stepped up for us."

Sophomore Erin Graham (Oakfield, N.Y./Oakfield Alabama), Michelle LeSouder (Stratford, Ont.) and Koslosky (Elma, N.Y./Iroquois) each registered double-digit kill totals with 19, 18 and 10, respectively. Koslosky also had a season-high six service aces and had a .474 hitting percentage for the match. Daluisio (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster) had a match-high 18 digs. Setters Jennifer Hansford (Stratford, Ont.) and Jessica Piscitelli (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) combined for 43 assists in the match.

Quinnipiac was led by Kalyn Hundley who had 15 kills and 11 digs.

The Purple Eagles continue play in the Classic when they play Providence at 11 a.m. Saturday and host Lehigh at 5 p.m.
