Men's Hockey Team Travels to Bowling Green, Wayne State This Weekend

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. — The Niagara University men's hockey team (2-3-0, 1-0-0) returns to the road to complete its four-game road swing when it travels to the Buckeye State and the Great Lake State. The Purple Eagles face their second-straight Central Collegiate Hockey Association opponent when they play Bowling Green (2-4-2, 1-22) Friday at 7:05 p.m. in BGSU Ice Arena in Bowling Green, Ohio. Niagara plays its second of four College Hockey America league games vs. Wayne State (1-2-2, 0-1-0) Saturday at 7:05 p.m. at the Taylor SportsPlex in Taylor, Mich.

"We are looking to build off a good weekend where we executed very well last Friday against Wayne State and gave Michigan a good game," Niagara head coach Dave Burkholder said. "We matched Michigan’s effort level but they certainly executed the big play when they needed it. These experiences against the top teams will help us learn and continue to get better as individuals and as a team."

Niagara enters the weekend having split last weekend's games on the road. The Purple Eagles beat Wayne State, 4-1, in Plymouth, Mich., but then dropped a 6-2 game to then-No. 3/4 Michigan in Ann Arbor.

Bowling Green collected a win and a tie last weekend at home vs. Miami (Ohio). The Falcons posted a 4-1 victory over the Red Hawks and then a 4-4 overtime tie.

Wayne State has been idle since its loss to the Purple Eagles on Halloween.

Both games can be heard live on WJJL radio (1440 AM, Niagara Falls) with Paul Hamilton calling the action. Pre-game starts at 6:55 p.m.
