Fairfax, VA (December 7, 2002): Niagara's men's basketball team could not overcome another cold shooting night and career games from two George Mason players, as the Purple Eagles fell to the host's 65-45 in non-league action.
The Purple Eagles shot just 25% from the field in the first half and 29% for the game while George Mason received a career high in assists from Jon Larranaga and a career high in points and rebounds off the bench from Richard Tynes to drop Niagara's record on the season to 1-4.
Niagara trailed 30-21 at the half, but George Mason extended its lead early and did not look back en route to the victory. James "Mook" Reaves (Rochester, NY) was the only Niagara player in double figures as he finished with 10 points and nine rebounds.
The Purple Eagles are next in action Wednesday at 7:00pm when they meet Big 4 rival Buffalo at Buffalo. The Empire Sports Network will televise the game on local cable.
