One of the most prolific relievers in program history, Johnston has etched her name in the record book as Niagara's all-time leader in saves. She was named a team captain prior to the 2020 season, and was named the team's Unsung Hero as a junior.

In 17.2 innings this spring, Johnston had a team-best 3.96 ERA, going 2-1 with a save in seven appearances with 16 strikeouts and 16 hits allowed.

Johnston appeared in 18 games in 2019, posting a 3.43 ERA in 32.2 innings pitched with 25 strikeouts. Earned one save and posted a record of 1-2. With her save against SIUE on March 15, Johnston broke the school record by notching her sixth career save.

Johnston's sophomore season saw her set a new program record for saves in a season, with four. She pitched in 32.2 innings spanning 20 games with 31 strikeouts.

As a freshman, she started two games in the circle, and came out of the bullpen another 16 times. Johnston sat down 34 batters via strikeout in 41.0 frames, posting a 4.44 ERA. She earned her first career win with a season-high four strikeouts against Saint Peter's on April 10, and also recorded four strikeouts against Siena on May 8 for her first career save.

Johnston volunteers at Heart, Love and Soul, a charitable organization based in Niagara Falls that helps feed those in need.

Academically, she has made the Dean's List three times, and plans to be a physical therapist.
