YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Niagara Purple Eagles men's and women's tennis teams began their spring season competing against the Youngstown State Penguins on Friday night.
 
Match Notes (Men)

• Taylan Ozdemir picked up Niagara's lone win in the match. Ozdemir edged Thomas Rodrigues in three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 10-8.
• Ozdemir improved to 2-0 in dual matches and 7-5 overall this season.

 
Match Notes (Women)

• NU fell to YSU, 7-0
• The No. 2 doubles team of Sharlee Deshmukh and Shannon Wong won three points in their match, while Stella Peisakhova and Sansriti Ranjan lost close matches in singles.

• The Niagara men are back in action on February 11 to play Oberlin College and Cleveland State in Cleveland.
• The Niagara women's next match will be against Akron in St. Bonaventure on Feb. 4.
