Donny George returns to Niagara University as head coach of the women’s soccer team in January 2025, bringing extensive experience and a proven record of success to his first season leading the Purple Eagles.
Most recently, George served as head coach at St. Bonaventure University in the Atlantic 10 Conference, where he navigated two challenging seasons with notable achievements. In his second year, he secured positive results against Youngstown State, Binghamton, VCU, and Rhode Island, while competing in demanding away matches against Texas powerhouses Baylor and Texas Tech. In his first year, George achieved strong results against Dayton (tie), Fordham, UMass, Robert Morris, Detroit Mercy, Eastern Michigan, Marist, and Davidson, demonstrating his ability to compete against top programs.
George previously served as an assistant coach at Niagara from 2021 to 2022, playing a pivotal role in the team’s success. In 2021, he helped guide the Purple Eagles to a 13-4-1 record, reaching the MAAC playoff semifinals before falling to Fairfield. In 2022, the team posted an 11-8-1 record, advancing to the MAAC championship game, where they were defeated by Quinnipiac. His contributions included strategic in-game coaching, player development, and recruiting.
Before Niagara, George was head coach at Erie Community College, where he managed all aspects of the program and mentored student-athletes on and off the field. He also served as an assistant coach at Daemen University, focusing on in-game strategies and player techniques, and at Baker University in Kansas from 2018 to 2020, where he contributed to game planning, recruiting, and administrative duties.
A standout defender during his playing career at Baker University, George earned a bachelor’s degree in biology in 2013 and a master’s degree in sport management in 2020.
His leadership, strategic insight, and passion for developing student-athletes position him to elevate Niagara’s women’s soccer program in 2025 and beyond.
