Carter Caplan

Caplan joins the Purple Eagles from Drexel University, where he spent four seasons as the head manager for the women’s basketball team. Caplan was responsible for hiring and training managers, facilitating team meals and assisting the coaching staff and director of basketball operations with day-to-day operations. He also created monthly newsletters and videos to share with fans and alumni and coordinated social media posts.

From April to September of 2019, Caplan had an athletic development co-op at Temple University. He assisted with donor and stewardship activities and generated Owl Club initiatives, while also answering inquiries, renewing annual memberships and soliciting annual fund gifts.

Caplan had an athletic compliance co-op at Villanova from April to September 2018. He researched rule interpretations and bylaws for coaches and athletic staff, tracked prospective student-athlete eligibility and amateur status through the NCAA Eligibility Center and submitted NCAA reports and documents to the NCAA offices and the Big East Conference.

From April to September 2017, Caplan had a digital media productions co-op at the University of Pennsylvania. While at Penn, Caplan formulated weekly viewership reports for all 33 Division I teams, produced the Standards & Procedures Manual for Penn Sports Network, served as a graphics producer and replay operator for ESPN3 and Ivy League Digital Network broadcasts, reported for Penn Relays and developed marketing strategies.

Caplan graduated from Drexel in June 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in sport management and minors in business administration and sport coaching leadership.
