Biography
Why Niagara?: "I chose Niagara because of the smaller class room sizes and the community based environment of the campus. The swim team had a major role in my decision because they gave me the impression that the team had strong bonds both in and out of the water."
In The Pool: Earned MAAC All-Academic honors in 2008, 2009 and 2010...Did not compete during the 2009-10 season...Swam in the 400 IM, 200 backstroke, 200 fly, 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay, and the 800 free relay at the 2009 MAAC Championships, qualifying for the ECAC’s in the 200 medley relay, the 400 medley relay and the 800 free relay...Part of 200 and 400 medley teams that broke Niagara records at the 2009 MAAC’s...Swam in the 200 IM, 100 fly and 200 fly at the 2008 MAAC Championships, qualfying for the ECAC’s in the 100 fly and 200 fly...Broke the 200 fly school record, swimming a 1:57.67 in the events preliminary round at the 2007 ECAC Championship...Part of 200 medley team that broke Niagara record...Finished 15th in the event, swimming a 1:58.19...Collected the top six 200 fly times...Placed sixth (1:59.40) in the 200 fly at the MAAC Championship...Registered squad’s top 400 IM mark with a 4:23.86 to finish ninth at the league meet...Swam the second leg of the 800 free relay that broke the school record with a 7:02.43 at the ECAC Championships...Relay was was four hundredths of a second off the school record to place fourth (7:03.10) at the MAACs...Swam third leg for the 200 medley relay that was seventh (1:39.99) at MAACs.
Personal: Born in New London, Conn.…Son of Terrence and Joan O’Laughlin...Has an older sister, Meghan, and a younger sister, Chelsea who is a freshman on the women’s swimming & diving team...Majoring in biology.
