Bonan is entering her first season as an assistant coach at Niagara, joining the men's and women's swimming and diving program in the fall of 2021.
We are thrilled to have Emma join the Purple & White," said Bugby. "She will bring a high level of coaching, recruiting, and mentoring to our program. There's no doubt that Emma will help mold the culture of the team as our swimmers and divers excel in the classroom and fight for a MAAC title."
Â
Bonan will be in charge of recruiting student-athletes to the men's program, while also coaching the mid-distance free and distance groups.
Â
Bonan arrives on Monteagle Ridge after spending five seasons as the assistant coach at Clarkson where she assisted the head coach with multiple duties.
Â
"I am delighted to join this great staff," said Bonan. "I am excited to work with the team and see what this season holds."
Â
During the 2019-20 academic year, Bonan was also the assistant at Glens Falls High School, where she previously worked as the assistant coach in 2013-14. While at Glens Falls H.S., Bonan helped with practices and team meets.Â
Bonan graduated from Clarkson in 2012 with a degree in Chemistry, and then followed that up with a master's degree in Chemistry Education at SUNY Potsdam in 2013.
Â
A four-year member of the Golden Knights' swimming team from 2008-2012, Bonan was a two-year captain for Clarkson and is still a member of the school-record holding 800 freestyle relay squad that set the mark in February 2009 at Nottingham, NY. She also placed 29th in the 500 freestyle in 2011 at the UNYSCSA meet and placed 32nd in the 100 freestyle (56.85 seconds) at the 2012 UNYSCSA meet.
