2018 is the first season for Robert Cavicchia as an assistant coach with Niagara men's soccer.
A native of Brampton, Ont., Cavicchia joins the Purple Eagles after spending two years as the York Jets Soccer Club Academy Director.
Prior to his stint with York, Cavicchia was a goalkeeper coach for the Toronto Soccer Association during the summer of 2016, and spent the two previous years serving as the Technical Director of the York Jets Soccer Club. Cavicchia also boasts experience working for the Jets' U17 Central Soccer League team.
Before coaching, Cavicchia was a four-year starter in goal at Syracuse University from 2005-2008. He captained the team in his senior season, and holds the program record for minutes played (6,386) and still ranks in the top 10 in several school categories, including career shutouts (third – 22), saves (third – 293), goals-against average (fourth – 1.10), wins (T-fifth – 26) and save percentage (eighth – .790).
