Biography
2020-21:
The Swedish forward played in 17 games as a junior, registering 14 points on seven goals and seven assists. He scored his seventh goal of the season during game two of the AHA Quarterfinals that helped Niagara force a decisive game-three and eventually advance to the conference semifinals.
2019-20:
Stenlund scored five goals and added five assists over the 16 games in which he played. Stenlund also made the AHA All-Academic Team.
2018-19:
Was named the AHA Rookie of the Year…Third Star of the Week by NCAA (Nov. 20)…Led AHA with 23 goals, tied for national lead in power play goals (10) and shorthanded goals (3)…Was runner-up for the Tim Taylor Award, given annually to the nation’s top freshman…New program record holder after scoring in eight straight games…Was named to the 2018-19 AHA All-Academic Team…One of seven players to appear in all 41 games, during his first season with Niagara; scoring 23 goals, 19 assists, 10 power play goals, three shorthanded goals and 30 block…Collegiate debut with his first two collegiate goals, including the game-winner in overtime vs. AIC (Oct. 12)…Scored twice in four separate games vs. AIC (Oct. 12), vs. Canisius (Nov. 17), at AIC (Feb. 1) and at Air Force Falcons (March 15)…Season-high with one shorthanded goal vs. RIT (Jan. 4), at Holy Cross (Jan. 11) and at AIC (Feb. 2)…Scored the winning goal in OT against RIT, sending the Purple Eagles go to their first AHA championship game…Finished the season with 119 shots and .193 shooting percentage…Invited to New York Islanders evelopment camp following the season.
Before Niagara:
As a member of the 2017-18 Madison Capitols (USHL), Stenlund racked up 41 points (17 G, 24 A) in 60 regular season games. ...Started the season with a goal in each of his first two games, then ended strong with 14 points (8 G, 6 A) in the team’s final 18 games.
