Biography

2020-21:
Cooley played in 21 games, recording a goal in four different contests, including one during the Purple Eagles quarterfinal series win over Robert Morris. Finished the season with eight points on four goals and four assists. He scored on the power-play during Niagara's 2-1 win over Mercyhurst on Feb. 20.

 
2019-20:
Cooley finished his junior year with six goals and 12 assists after competing in each of the team’s 34 games. A highlight of Cooley’s season came at RIT on 11/8/19. He scored twice to tie and then win the game for Niagara in its first-ever AHA 3v3 double-overtime contest, with both goals going viral, appearing on SportsCenter's Top 10 plays, and NHL Network.

2018-19:
Was named to the 2018-19 AHA All-Academic Team…One of seven players to appear in all 41 games, during his second season with Niagara…Collected 27 points (nine goals and 18 assists), 17 blocks, three power play goals and one shorthanded goal…Season debut with one assist vs. AIC (Oct. 12)…Season-high with two goals vs. Mercyhurst (Jan. 18)…Season-high with one power play goal at Western Michigan (Dec. 1), at AIC (Feb. 1) and at Air Force Falcons (March 15)…Season-high with one short hand goal vs. Sacred Heart (Feb. 8)…Season-high with two assists at Canisius (Nov. 15) and at Holy Cross (Jan.11)…Finished the season with 80 shots and a .113 shooting percentage...Invited to Buffalo Sabres development camp following the season.

2017-18:
As a freshman he played in 34 of 36 total games...Led all team rookies in points with 20 points with 6 goals and 14 assists...Atlantic Hockey Rookie Player of the Week for his play against Robert Morris on 10/6 and 10/7...Participated in the Toronto Maple Leafs' development camp after freshman year with teammate Noah Delmas.

Before Niagara:
Cooley joined the Purple Eagles from the NAHL’s Amarillo Bulls, where he played for current Niagara assistant coach Matt Nicholson. In his first season in the NAHL, Cooley was third on his team in scoring with 34 points in 51 games, scoring 14 goals and adding 20 assists. He was named the Second Star of the Week in the NAHL’s South Division for the week of April 3, 2017 after scoring three goals and two assists in three games played. Prior to Amarillo, Cooley played in the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite organization from 2013-16.
